Our Man in Europe, now Belize, Dave Delacroix: "A Brief History of Repetition. A brief history of Repetition!"
...(So the Story goes:)...It probably started out with the TROJANS/SPARTANS/those guys (heat of battle?): Darius, Persian King-invader: "Our ARROWS will darken the Sky!?" Leonidas, Trojan-dude; "Then we will fight in the shade-dude!" (and lacking a megaphone... for the hard-of-hearing): "We will fight in the shade!" (Cost him his Life yet a legendary Suicide note?)
Next? Julius Caesar (Roman economy?) "Veni Vidi Vici-boogaloo! - Veni-Vidi-Vici-boogaloo!?" History also notes Marie-Antoinette: "Omelets? Let them eat Croisants! Let them eat Croisants!" (Not quite repetitive but U get the idea?)
And Colonial - U.S.A. - Thomas Payne: "The British are coming! The British are coming!" Whilst Burt Bacharach-singing: "Do U know the way to Santa Fe? Repeats this maybe EIGHT times in the same song. Over this, AS a Songwriter I have some concerns?
Our NOW Japanese, allies-friends took repetition to excess, attacking Pearl Harbor with "BANZAI-BANZAI-BANZAI!!!" (Actually, quite smart repetition economy-didn't have to repeat?)
But a "goody" for the hard-of-hearing and maybe the most BRUTAL was by Athelstan in AD 450, his assault on ROME: "WOE to the vanquished! Frickin WOE to the vanquished!" Pity the poor Minstrel who didn't sing along?
...Which prevails to this day; WOODSTOCK-1969, every Stagehand - Microphone hugger: "We just love Ya! We just Love ya!"/"It's a brand-new day! It's a brand-new day!"/(food passed out:)" If you're too tired to chew, pass it on! If you're too tired to chew, pass it on!"
The Trojans/SPARTANS- famed Condoms these days of course are turning in their graves. They R buried in Phillipi-Greece. They R buried in Phillipi-Greece... God forbid we don't meet EM upstairs! They might think we are taking DA MICK!!!
